When using banners to advertise you are often just given the HTML code. As is this code can be added to your web page & it will work.
When adding links to anything it is always best to check them & make sure they work properly.
When advertising with banners you are usually asked to fill in two fields:
The Banner url: http://
The Site url: http://
Often, as with Just Been Paid, the banner that is shown comes only with HTML code.
Here is a Just Been Paid banner. This is the HTML code you add to your webpage:
The Banner url is immediately after <img src=” http://www.justbeenpaid.com/images/banners/jbp_2_468x60.gif but not including “></a
The Site url is immediately after <a href =” http://www.justbeenpaid.com/?r=interesting My username is “interesting” this would be replaced by your own username.
I’ve made the links live so you can try them and see what they actually do.
This is the kind of thing you don’t think about once you know it.
Often you forget that others need to learn simple tricks like this as they start out. I keep a copy of this around to make sure I enter the site & banner url’s correctly. I hope this makes it easier for you to place banner ads.
As always you are welcome to send your tricks & tips to: firstname.lastname@example.org
